Lake Mburo National Park (whispers of the wind)

Lake Mburo National  park is the smallest savannah park in Uganda located in Kiruhura district and Nyabushozi County. These are all found  in western part of Uganda Ankole sub region. The park is very special place with every corner of its place showing it’s magnificent and colorful species of wildlife animals that make one appreciate God’s creation.

Its cultured landscape with rolling hills and Lake Shores also contribute to the beauty of the park. There are five lakes in the middle of the park and Lake Mburo is the biggest. It is home v to over 568 species of mammals and 315 species of birds. Further, it covers the total land of 260kmsq. And lastly, it is among the newest national park in Uganda being gazetted in 1982.

As you enter around to the gate of the park expect to see herdsmen grazing cattle’s. In fact this is an example of how wildlife and people can live together

Elands at lake Mburo park are seen in plenty and its home of zebras. More so, in Africa we have only three species of zebras and in Uganda with over 5000 zebras putting at number on in east Africa. Furthermore,  Impalas are only found in Lake Mburo park just like elands. In addition, about 20% of lake Mburo park surface is covered by water and this water is from lake mburo were the park drives its name.

How to get to Lake Mburo national park

The most convenient way to get there is by road. Meanwhile, you can hire a private vehicle or take a public bus from Kampala to Lyantonde, then connect to Sanga or Rwanyo, the park’s entrance gates.

Alternatively, you can fly from Entebbe International Airport to Mbarara Airport, then take a private vehicle or taxi to the park. Additionally, some tour operators like Umarella Voyage Safaris offer shuttle services from Kampala or Entebbe to the park. In the meantime, it’s essential to book your accommodation and tours in advance to avoid any last-minute hassles.
