After a short briefing, you’ll begin your drive toward the Uganda border at Gatuna or Cyanika. The scenic journey reveals Rwanda’s rolling hills, known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills,” and Uganda’s lush countryside as you cross over.
Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a brief Kigali city tour, visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, colorful local markets, and craft shops before departing for Uganda. Arrive in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the evening, check in at your lodge, and relax as you prepare for the much-anticipated gorilla trekking experience.

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You’ll learn gorilla trekking rules and safety guidelines before being assigned a gorilla family group to visit. The trek can last from one to six hours, depending on the gorillas’ movement.
As you trek through dense tropical forest, listen to birds chirping and watch out for other forest residents — L’Hoest monkeys, colobus monkeys, duikers, and a wide array of butterflies.
