Day 2Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary Community Walk

Queen Elizabeth and Gorilla Trekking - 5 days tour

After an early breakfast, head to the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. The chimpanzee trekking experience begins as you venture into the lush Kibale rainforest. With over 1,500 chimpanzees, Kibale offers one of Africa’s best primate tracking experiences.

During the trek, expect to spot other primates such as red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus, and L’Hoest’s monkeys. Once you find the chimpanzees, spend a magical hour observing their behavior—watch them feed, groom, and interact within their family groups. The experience is both intimate and educational.

Return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run eco-project that supports local conservation. Walk through lush swamp trails rich in birdlife—look out for the Great Blue Turaco, hornbills, and kingfishers. Later, meet members of the Bigodi community to learn about their cultural practices, crafts, and sustainable tourism initiatives.
