7-Day Rwanda Safari takes you on a spectacular journey through Rwanda’s most treasured landscapes, wildlife habitats, and cultural sites. Your adventure begins in Kigali, one of Africa’s cleanest and fastest-growing cities. You will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a powerful place that helps you understand the country’s history and remarkable transformation.

Next, you travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. The park is famous for its thriving chimpanzee population and breathtaking canopy walkway. You will track chimpanzees at dawn, listen to their calls echo through the forest, and later enjoy sweeping jungle views as you walk above the treetops. From Nyungwe, the journey continues to the peaceful shores of Lake Kivu. This freshwater lake offers beautiful views, gentle breezes, and time to relax before heading toward the northern highlands. You will then explore Volcanoes National Park, home to rare golden monkeys and the iconic mountain gorillas.
After golden monkey tracking, you cross into Uganda for an optional gorilla trekking experience at a more affordable permit rate. Uganda’s misty Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Mgahinga National Park provides a magical backdrop for your close encounter with the gentle giants. Finally, you return to Kigali through scenic countryside. This safari balances action, nature, culture, and relaxation. It welcomes both group and private travelers who wish to experience Rwanda and Uganda’s most incredible wildlife and communities in a single, well-crafted journey.

You start very early. After breakfast, you drive to the ranger briefing point. Rangers give rules, safety instructions, and explain how to behave near primates. You then enter Nyungwe Forest with ranger teams and local trackers. Finding chimps can take time. On average, expect 2–4 hours of walking before locating a troop. Once found, you spend up to one hour observing them at close range. This time allows you to watch feeding, grooming, and social play.
After chimp tracking, you return to the lodge for lunch. Later, you head to the Canopy Walk. The walk sits on a 160-meter suspension bridge about 70 meters above the forest floor. It runs above a deep gorge and offers panoramic views. You will likely see colobus monkeys and many forest birds. The canopy experience requires a short hike (about 2.1 km on the Igishigishigi trail) to reach the bridge. It suits most fitness levels, but wear closed shoes and bring light rain protection.
