Morning Departure
Our 1-day Uganda birding trip begins with a pickup from your area, followed by a drive to Mabamba Swamp, west of Entebbe city. Subsequently, we’ll travel through an open gateway with full of inviting sceneries, passing through Entebbe, a gateway to most of Uganda’s tourist destinations. The drive takes approximately 1 and a half hours.
Upon arrival at Mabamba Swamp, we’ll board a small canoe and begin our journey through the scummy waters and twisted reeds. Meanwhile, the papyrus reeds will open up into a flat grassy wetland, where we’ll spot various bird species. This is our hotspot for spotting the elusive Shoebill, papyrus gonolek, blue swallow, and silent kingfishers.
As we explore the swamp, you’ll have the opportunity to see various species. For example; hornbills, owls, whistling ducks, and blue-breasted bee-eaters. Furthermore, our experienced safari birder will guide us through the most valued Mabamba trails, pointing out the different bird species and sharing interesting facts about their habitats and behaviors. Additionally, we’ll take a break and enjoy the serene atmosphere, surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature.
After a morning of birding, we’ll take a break and enjoy a picnic lunch on the shores of Lake Victoria. Meanwhile, you can relax and recharge, taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. You can also try your hand at spot fishing or take a leisurely walk along the beach.
In the afternoon, we’ll continue our birding adventure, exploring the swamp and its surroundings. As the day comes to a close, we’ll begin our journey back to Kampala.
