Full itinerary for the 4 Day Luxury Gorilla Trek & Lake Bunyonyi

Begin your journey with an 8-9 hour road transfer from Entebbe/Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, stopover at the Equator crossing, a fascinating spot where you can take photos and conduct simple experiments to demonstrate the Earth’s equatorial forces.

After the Equator stop, continue to Mbarara town, known for its stunning scenery and vibrant local markets. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, sampling some of the region’s delicious cuisine.

In the afternoon, embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through rolling hills, tea plantations, and dense forests. Arrive at the park in the evening, ready to start your gorilla trekking adventure the next day.

Overnight at Buhoma Lodge or Mahogany Springs Lodge, both offering comfortable and luxurious accommodations.

After an early breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for registration and a gorilla trekking briefing. Learn about the park’s conservation efforts, the habits of the mountain gorillas, and the rules for trekking.

Embark on a thrilling gorilla trek, led by experienced guides and trackers. Hike through the dense forest, navigating steep slopes, muddy paths, and tangled vegetation. The trek can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the location of the gorillas.

Meeting Gorilla

When you finally encounter the gorillas, spend one hour observing these incredible creatures in their natural habitat. Watch as they forage, play, and interact with each other, a truly unforgettable experience.

After the trek, return to the park headquarters, where you’ll receive a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and contributing to conservation efforts.

Arrive at Lake Bunyonyi in the afternoon, and check-in at Bird Nest Resort, a comfortable and scenic lodge overlooking the lake. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and unwinding, enjoying the breathtaking scenery and tranquil atmosphere of the lake. Take a canoe ride or a walk along the lake’s shores, spotting local birds and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
