3 Days Congo Gorilla Safari
The massive Virunga national park is home to the endangered mountain gorillas with 10 habituated families for tourism. The 3 Days Congo Gorilla Safari starts from Rwanda before crossing to Goma town in Congo via Gisenyi. The gorilla trekking in Congo package includes visiting Lake Kivu , touring Kigali as well as Virunga National Park. Virunga is also home to 218 species of mammals including Thomas cobs, elephants, lions, buffaloes and the rare Okapi. Virunga national park is home to the largest population of hippos in the world. Over 19,000 can be found in the numerous rives within and outside the park.
PICK FROM PLACE OF ACCOMMODATION AND TRANSFER TO CONGO FROM KIGALI
Today morning as you start your 3 Days Congo Gorilla Safari, your driver guide will pick you up from the hotel or Airport if you are on a morning flight. You will then start the journey to border between Rwanda and Congo where you will be picked up to start the gorilla trekking. Enjoy the winding roads of Rwanda’s countryside and you look forward to meeting the massive gorillas in the beautiful Virunga national park.
GORILLA TRACKING IN VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK – CONGO
After an early morning breakfast, you will cross the border to Congo to proceed to the Virunga park for gorilla trekking. Your first stop will be the park headquarters for briefing before starting the trek. After briefing, together with your ranger guide, you will start the hike in search of mountain gorillas. You are allowed 1 hour with these gentle giants before starting the hike back to the park headquarters and continuing on to the Gisenyi for overnight.
TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI
After breakfast, you can choose to take a short boat ride on Lake Kivu after which you transfer to Kigali depending on your flight out of Kigali international airport.
